Tavira Ciência Viva Centre
The Associação Oficina Ciência Viva de Tavira was co-founded by the City Council of Tavira, the University of Algarve and the National Agency for Scientific Culture - Ciência Viva. The Centre was founded with the features of a new generation Science Centre, including both interactive exhibition and laboratory spaces. In addition, the Tavira Ciência Viva Centre assumes a key role in dynamizing the participation of the community in the public debates concerning science and technology.
The Centre was inaugurated to the public on the 21st of April 2005, in the presence of the Minister of Science and Technology, Mariano Gago, the Director of the National Agency for Scientific Culture and the Network of Ciência Viva Centres, Rosalia Vargas, the President of the City Council of Tavira, Macário Correia and the friend, supporter and to a great extent patron of this science centre, Manuel Paiva, living in Tavira when not in Brussels and conciliating his activitites of teaching physics and researching on physiology in the absence of gravity.
